22 Jul Ordinations set for August 6
On Sunday, August 6 at 6 PM, there will be a worship service in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church Clinton for the ordinations of Lauren Neal and Vickie Violette to the gospel ministry. I look forward to this occasion and invite their friends and those of our church to be part of it as well (reception to follow).
Both of these women have made a great impact upon our church through their respective ministry positions. They’re also known in our community and have places of influence outside of our family of faith as well. I’m grateful they will continue serving the Lord with us on our church staff.
Thanks to Rev. Sam Dean and other pastors before me, our church has established a legacy of supporting both men and women in their calling to Christian service. I’m grateful to follow in this tradition by affirming and celebrating the biblical and theological foundations of this practice.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy”—Acts 2.17-1
